Morrigan

April 1, 2009

Dear Zeus,

I know that Athena is one of your favorite children and I know that almost nobody can replace her, but I think I can.

Athena and I are very similar. How you ask? Well, for one thing Athena likes to help people and so do I. Whenever I baby sit I always help the little kids with their homework and try to explain it in a fun way. Also in math class if the people in my group don't get something I try to help them understand it and make sure they know how to do it.

Another comparison between Athena and I is that she is the goddess of wisdom and I think I am pretty smart. What was that? Oh you want some proof? Well okay, I have all A's on my report card, I love school and I always get excited when we start a new project in any of my classes.

You should choose me to be Athena because I love music! I learned that Athena invented the flute and I thought that was cool because I like to play the flute. I started to play in 5th grade and I have loved it ever since. I have played in concerts and it is really fun and sounds wonderful!

Another reason is because Athena and I both think art is awesome. I have wanted to be an artist ever since I was three years old. I was always interested in paint, markers and crayons. When I am drawing it is like I am in a different world away from everybody and no one can get me out of my world. I use up about three pages of paper every day (much more on the weekends). If I am ever thinking about something it comes out in my drawings.

Finally, the last and best reason why I should be Athena is because I know everything about her (well not everything but almost). In 4th grade I learned about the Greek gods and goddesses and we had to pick one of them to learn about and teach the class and I picked Athena. I dressed up just like her and told the class all about her and I think I learned a lot.

Thank you so much for considering me to replace Athena. If you pick me, I will try my hardest to be just like her (with my own twist). Thanks again for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Morrigan

Morrigan, you wrote a very strong beginning. I loved the simile you wrote when you were telling how you and Athena both like art. Your whole letter was very persuasive. Greatv job!

Morrigan, When you talk about being an artist, I think you give a very convincing argument. Excellent essay!
