Anthony
Even though the thought of replacing your son Hermes is unthinkable, I believe I have the qualities to meet this overwhelming task.
How could anyone possibly replace the god of messengers, travelers, athletes in need even thieves and liars? He is such a complicated god but I know I have the will and the compassion to succeed at this task.
I have helped my family many times when we traveled short and long distances. While working in Dipietro's market, I swiftly delivered the many messages to the back kitchen. I've escorted people at weddings and at grade school and I have crossed many boundaries especially with my parents. Certainly escorting the dead to the after life would be no problem.
I have also been in a situation when I borrowed something from my sister and had to charm my way to a settlement. I'm told am quite good at that. Although I have not dealt with many thieves or liars in my 11 years, have been know to tell a little fib. I am quite cunning and would like to use my powers for good not evil.
I have enclosed my resume and can be reached by email or phone
Sincerely,
Anthony “HERMES”
P.S About the outfit the hat and sandals are not my kind of thing. How about a pair of Nikes and baseball hat? I look forward to hearing from you.

Dear Zeus,
Are you looking for an experienced person who will enjoy being a replacement for Ares? Well, I'm the man for the job! I have experience because I have a lot of family members who are in the military. I have an uncle in the navy, another uncle in the air-force, and a great grandfather who is a veteran of World War I. I really think I should be chosen because I am a good leader and an experienced person.
I think I am the best possible choice for Ares. I am strong like Ares, I have experience with weapons because my dad is a police officer. He has taken me to firing ranges and I have used a pistol, a shotgun. I really want to be Ares and I am more responsible than the other candidates.
I also have a dog named Ozzy. He is a German shepherd and he attacks anyone who tries to hurt me or my brother. I guess you are wondering why I am talking about my dog. Well as you know, Ares's symbol is the dog. I have also been bitten by a dog. First he bit me in the chest. And then he bit me in the back of the head as I ran away. So, I have some experience with dogs. Please consider and hopefully choose me to be Ares.
Sincerely,
Kyle

Dear Zeus
I bet it is hard to replace your brother Poseidon. He always could do what's best for the sea. I want to tell you that I want to replace Poseidon because he is a great person and he created many
sea creatures. I love sea creatures like sharks, fish, whales, and dolphins. Poseidon loves to swim and he swims all the time. I love to swim and I am on the swim team. I swim 5 days a week. Poseidon created the sea and is the god of the sea. I like the sea and all of its qualities. Without the sea we would not be living at all.
Some of the other people who want to replace Poseidon said that I’m nothing like your brother and I won't get the job. I hope I convinced you that I want the job. I will accept your choice for the job. Thank you for your time to read my argument to prove why I should replace your brother Poseidon.

Dear Zeus,
Have you ever looked at the Acropolis in Athens? What did you think about the Athenians who planned and built the Acropolis? Well here's what I think about the architects and builders of the Acropolis. They had to have help and I bet they had help from Athena, and I would like to be the god of wisdom and the city.
I would be a good Athena because I play the trumpet. I've been playing since 5th grade, and I can play fast. I made up my own low notes. The trumpet relates to Athena because she made the trumpet.
Another way I would be a smart Athena is because I like historic cities. The way this is significant to Athena is because she's the goddess of cities. One way I like cities is that I like looking at buildings. Another way is I don't mind crowds and cities are loaded with crowds, especially historical cities.
The final way I would be a great Athena is because I like farming. This is relevant to Athena and not Demeter because Athena is the goddess of agriculture. One way I like to farm is I like organic food compared to stale supermarket food. Another way I farm is my family has a garden.
Once again the way I have great qualifications to fill in for Athena is because I play the trumpet, I like to farm, and I like looking at historical cities. Please Zeus let me fill in for Athena.
Sincerely,
Kevin

Dear Zeus,
I think I would be an amazing replacement for Artemis because I love being with children, I also love walking outside in the forest, and last I think she seems to be cool because she was born on an island, where there is a forest to run in and play in. There is also a forest/piggery at the end of my street where I spend most of my time in the summer.
The first reason why I would be good to replace her would be that I love children. I like taking care of them, I love playing with them and I love making them laugh. I have a nephew who's four years old and when he laughs it makes me so happy.
The second reason why I would be good to replace Artemis is because I am really good outside for a long time. I'm good at being outside for a long time because my nephew loves to be outside in the summer time. Also there's the beautiful animals that run up and down our street. I love being in the piggery in the morning when the golden brown sun is raising. Being outside in the summer time is like being in a sound proof room.
Last but not least is reason number three. The reason why I would be a good replacement for her would be that she was born on an island where there is a forest and when she was born she helped her mother give birth to her twin brother Apollo. First I think she's cool because she's the goddess of the hunt and forest. I don't really like to go hunting but I don't mind it. Also I like being in the forest to get some quiet time. While being in the forest I like to smell the beautiful flowers and hear the amazing sounds that the gorgeous animals make. Secondly, I think she's cool because she spends all of her time outside and during the summer I spend most of my time outside. Also I've mentioned in every paragraph that my nephew loves to go outside and that I have to take care of him when he's out there if my mom doesn't feel like watching him. The last reason why I think that I would be a good replacement for Artemis is because I love to be active, like playing basketball, soccer and softball etc. and finally, I just love to run.
As you can see I would like to replace Artemis so that she can take some time off and just relax. I also think that I have some great reasons why I would be good for the job.
Sincerely,
Cassaundra

I think I should replace Ares because I have studied war in 1st,2nd,and 3rd grade.
I'm a very strong leader, I am not afraid to fight and I can bench press 30 POUNDS 10 TIMES!!!!!
You will like my superior strength and my ability to lead very well.
A lot of people want to be Ares but they probably don't have the guts to fight or see absurd disgusting things in war. I can handle anything you throw at me or whatever you order me to do whether it is killing someone, or winning a war, you can count on me to get the job done. I love to see blood and guts unless it is my own, because I am sometimes a coward and I can't handle it when my family, friends, and war mates bleed or die.
I could protect you even if I’m up against 100 soldiers, I will at least put up a fight and not run away like a coward. Every fight I have gotten into I have won all of them, and that is not including weapons.
If you could replace Ares with me I will kill anyone who gets in your way or threatens you.
Since other people want to be your brother Ares, I've decided to make a deal with you. You let me be Ares, and I will give you my soul and everything I have including all my wealth.
IS IT A DEAL?
Sincerely,
Chandler

Dear Zeus,
I am very happy being outside, I enjoy children, and I love the moon's beautiful glow. For these reasons, I think I would be a very good replacement for Artemis.
First let me tell you why I like being outside. The smells and sounds around me make me feel alive, I love sitting on the grass and reading and listening to the sound of children and animals playing.
Second, I will tell you why I think children are a pleasure to be around. I have a nephew he is nine months today and I enjoy playing with him, I also like helping my sister with him , and I love hearing him laugh because it's cute and I know he is happy.
My next reason is I love the moon's beautiful glow. I like being in my backyard when it is darker outside, sitting on my porch smelling the fresh air and looking at the moon, I also like how interesting it is and how much you can learn about it, My favorite thing about the moon is it is so fun to look at and it is interesting how it is so bright. The moon helps light the night sky. It is such an interesting object in the sky, I also like the song “Dancing In The Moon Light”.
Those are my reasons why I would be a very good replacement for Artemis.
Sincerely,
Sophie

Dear Zeus,
I know that Athena is one of your favorite children and I know that almost nobody can replace her, but I think I can.
Athena and I are very similar. How you ask? Well, for one thing Athena likes to help people and so do I. Whenever I baby sit I always help the little kids with their homework and try to explain it in a fun way. Also in math class if the people in my group don't get something I try to help them understand it and make sure they know how to do it.
Another comparison between Athena and I is that she is the goddess of wisdom and I think I am pretty smart. What was that? Oh you want some proof? Well okay, I have all A's on my report card, I love school and I always get excited when we start a new project in any of my classes.
You should choose me to be Athena because I love music! I learned that Athena invented the flute and I thought that was cool because I like to play the flute. I started to play in 5th grade and I have loved it ever since. I have played in concerts and it is really fun and sounds wonderful!
Another reason is because Athena and I both think art is awesome. I have wanted to be an artist ever since I was three years old. I was always interested in paint, markers and crayons. When I am drawing it is like I am in a different world away from everybody and no one can get me out of my world. I use up about three pages of paper every day (much more on the weekends). If I am ever thinking about something it comes out in my drawings.
Finally, the last and best reason why I should be Athena is because I know everything about her (well not everything but almost). In 4th grade I learned about the Greek gods and goddesses and we had to pick one of them to learn about and teach the class and I picked Athena. I dressed up just like her and told the class all about her and I think I learned a lot.
Thank you so much for considering me to replace Athena. If you pick me, I will try my hardest to be just like her (with my own twist). Thanks again for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Morrigan

Dear Zeus,
Artistic, caring, unique, intelligent, competitive, determined, and is one of the goddess' of agriculture. Can you guess who this goddess is? Athena? Right! I am all of these things and more. I can be the perfect match to replace Athena for a year, you wait and see.
I can tell you many reasons why I would be perfect to replace Athena for a year. Let's start with Athena's symbols, the owl and olive tree. You probably think that the owl and olive tree are my symbols, too, but it's a little bit different. Even though they aren't my symbols, I can still relate to them. For example, I love looking at owls, and seeing the different species. Also, I like eating and cooking things with olives in it. Lastly, I care about the environment, and trees are always good for it because they give off oxygen.
Being helpful is another one of my reasons. Athena is always helpful, and she has an open mind to just about everything. She is understanding, too, and is a good listener. I am good at all of these things. For example, in math if someone in my group doesn't understand what we're doing, I can
help them so that they comprehend it better. I also help people in other classes too. Another example
is that I help my parents around the house, and look after my sister for my mom.
Are those enough reasons for you? No? O.K. then, my third reason is that Athena loves art and is very artistic. The same goes for me. I love to paint and draw pictures. In my free time I do crafts,
and I am very creative. For example, I love to do scrapbook pages on my trips and adventures. I think they are a lot of fun. I especially like finding new things to make, like the time my mom found a way to make a picture frame out of acorns.
Finally, one of my best reasons is that I am very competitive and determined in what I do, just like Athena. Once I set my mind on something I finish it, or carry through with it, just like Athena.
For example, when I start a project and everyone else quits because it's taking too long, I stay there and finish it. I am competitive in wakeboarding. If someone did really well and learned new tricks, I would keep practicing until I learned new tricks of my own. I am also competitive in karate. If I am fighting someone who keeps coming in on me and getting the point, I start going in faster so that I get the point and catch up to her. For example, at the Battle of Maine I was fighting a girl who was winning 5 to 3. I started going in faster and getting the point. In the end I won 5 to 3.
Those are four good reasons why I would be perfect to replace Athena for a year. I hope you see the similarities between us that I do. I promise that if you pick me I will do my best. Thanks!
Sincerely,
Sarah

Dear Zeus, April,3,2009
If I could replace any god or goddess I would want to replace Poseidon. I would replace Poseidon because he's the god of the sea and I love the sea and everything in it.
One of the reasons I would want to replace Poseidon is because I love to go swimming in the summer. The biggest reason that I love the summer is just because I go to the beach literally every day. Whenever I go to the beach I go straight into the water even if it's cold. Sometimes when my friend comes with me he asks me how I can go under the water even when it's freezing and I just tell him that it's a fast way to get used to it (like the coldness). My mom calls me a fish because when we go to the beach I stay in the water the whole time.
Another reason why I'd like to replace Poseidon is because ever since I was young I wondered what it would be like if I could live under water. I've always wanted to live under water. I'd like to live underwater because I love all the sea animals that live in the water and the sea shells and the rocks and technically everything that's in the water. My favorite sea animal is a sting ray. I like sting rays because I like how they have a poison tail and I like the way they swim. If I lived under water I could play with them and they wouldn't hurt me because Poseidon is their ruler and they don't hurt him.
Another example is that Poseidon is moody and has a temper and I do too. If I don't get my way then I will get covered with a blanket of revenge. Like Poseidon,I want everyone to listen to me and not get me angry.
Lastly the message I was trying to tell in this letter would be that I think that I would make a good replacement for Poseidon.
Sincerely,
Jema

Dear Zeus,
Do you like people who bring joy, like to be happy, and try to make peace?Well I think you found the right person. I can do all those things and more to be the perfect match for Dionysus.
Let me tell you why I would make a good replacement for Dionysus. I am always happy. Ok well lets not over do it. I am usually happy. I love to make people laugh. For example when I sing to Mrs.Coombs in gym class it makes everyone laugh. They all sound like laughing hyenas. I just love making people be happy and being happy myself. For example one way I make people happy is make a product that they like called wine. For myself I just love having fun especially playing sports specifically basketball. Overall I love bringing joy to people and having fun.
Sincerely,
Lillian

Dear Almighty Zeus, Ruler of the Sky, King of the Gods,
Have you ever thought that Apollo ever needed a break? Well since last week I've been thinking that maybe he does. With all his hard work driving the sun across the sky (not saying that you don't, I know you do work hard, I still think you deserve a break too but, I don't think you really want one).
Some good reasons I think I would be an awesome person to take Apollo's place for a while is because I am really accurate in the skill of archery , a camp I went to in West Virginia let me train in archery, and I hardly miss a bulls-eye.
Secondly, another excellent reason that I would be a perfect candidate for Apollo is I love math! And Apollo is a mathematician so I should probably tell you I am amazing at addition, multiplication, and fractions. Last but not least I got an......... A+ on my last quiz!!!!
Lastly, solar power is very interesting to me plus, I have a solar powered watch. Finally I created and online game 4 or so years ago that involves solar power!!! I really REALLY think you should try my game, it's very fun.
Forever under your em-powerment: Gabriel

I would make a good Hades because I like zombies, also known as the living dead. I also like scaring people and drawing zombies. As well as the game World of Warcraft when you get to play as the living dead. I also think it would be cool to live in the underworld and be the ruler of it as well. I would also like to have the power to bring people that I hate down to the underworld and keep them there for eternity. Listen to my evil laugh, it is so overwhelming, which can not be typed. I believe I would make a great Hades. Zeus, it would be nice if you made me into him.

Are you looking for a good replacement for Ares? I am perfect for the job.
I have studied war for many years. I have read books, seen pictures and videos and have heard accounts of war from real soldiers. I have probably the best education about war you could get.
My grandpa was a paratrooper in World War two. He has told me many things about the war. I have a knack about remembering weapons and battle information. I could recite every German rifle the Germans used at a drop of a hat! I also remember battle stats in a instant.
Every Tuesday and Thursday I go to a martial arts class so I know about how the Chinese fought many years ago. My dad has showed me how to fire one of his hunting rifles so I understand how rifles and guns work. I could tell you pretty well how a gun works.
I have many war relics in my house such as a W.W.2 German bayonet , a real Indian spear, a German assault weapon. In addition I have grown up watching the History
Channel. I am very educated in all aspects of war. Even the unsung part, such as the army core of engineers. They would operate machinery vital to the war effort. Such as the trucks that carried whole bridges and the engineers that run the tanks and clear the land mines. Without them the army would collapse.
I understand the planing that goes into war. It is not just attack and destroy, you must have strategy. I understand all about war and how it works. I know what war can do.
Many people when asked about war will say, “Lets just Nuke them!” But a nuclear bomb is the most damaging weapon known to man. If you put anyone but me in Ares' seat the world will be a wasteland.
I know what I am doing so please Zeus, Pick me for Ares, and pick a good god.

Dear Zeus,
Have you ever considered having a loyal god who respects and doesn't argue with people? Or a god who is kind and gentle? Do you know which god this is? Yes, its Hestia. This poor goddess has been working and working non-stop. I think she deserves a break. Maybe, for a year. If she accepts my offer, I will replace her.
I think I have the right skills to replace her because I respect people and treat them the way they want to be. I like it when people respect me. I love it when people say I am a kind and respectful person. At my communion, almost every person there said I was a kind and gentle person. It never gets old!.
In my Home Ec. class, I took awesome care of eight children! (they were eggs) So, that means I can take care of children and respect people like Hestia.
Another reason is that I don't argue with people (except my brother) so I need to work on that a little more. I am not the type of person who likes to argue. I just let it slide and not worry about it. Another reason is that Hestia was the most influential and widely revered of the Greek goddesses and she was the most important goddess of all. I am important too because I am the youngest in my family.
Also Hestia is the goddess of the hearth and home. I like the fact that she is the goddess of the hearth because hearth in Latin is 'focus' and I focus on almost everything that revolves around me. I also like that she is the goddess of home because, she never left her home and I don't want to either. I want to stay home because I want to stay with my family like Hestia did.
So, Zeus, think about this strong offer and consider this message as a gift from me to Hestia.
Thank You.
Sincerely,
Shallon

Dear Zeus,
I know that there must be a lot of people that want to replace your brother Poseidon but I hope you pick me because I love the ocean and all of its dwellers.
Why you should pick me is because I like all of the sea creatures. But my favorite is the shark, manta ray and the lion fish. If you pick me I could probably learn how to ride the manta ray. Yeah that's right you can ride a manta ray! Did you know that the manta ray can grow to 25 feet and weigh up to 5000 pounds? Also the sea creatures come in all shapes and sizes. Some can be up to 30 feet and some can be 5 inches.
Secondly I like to swim, if you saw me swimming at my pool you would be surprised at how good I am. My favorite place to swim is a man made lake in Scarborough. I mostly like to snorkel at the lake. I also like to swim in my pool because it is clean, warm and clear.
Lastly water covers 70% of the world and if you pick me I will keep the oceans clean by picking up any trash that someone throws into the ocean. I will stop people from hunting endangered animals like whales and sea turtles by telling them that they are killing them and if they don't listen I shall create a giant wave to send them back home. That is why I want to be Poseidon.
Sincerely,
Milos
Sean
Dear Zeus,
I know how difficult it can be to find somebody to take over for your magnificent greedy brother Poseidon, but I think I know just the right god that fits most of his descriptions and loves the ocean. Me. I love all the interesting creatures that lurk at the bottom of the deep blue sea and the ones that glide through the coral reefs. That's why I think I am the perfect substitute for Poseidon.
One of the many reasons that I should be the sub for Poseidon is because I love the animals that lodge under the sea. My favorite sea creature is the Goblin shark. This deadly animal dwells at the bottom of the sea and has a horn above his mouth. I also love the astonishing sea creatures that coast around drop offs and reefs like the clown fish. These two types of are not the only fish I like but the top two out of every fish in the sea. I love every fish in the sea because of their different adaptations.
I love the ocean itself not because it's 70% of the earth but because it is more unique then people think. It can cause the deadliest Tsunamis like the December 26 Sumatra Tsunami. If I were to control the remarkable sea I would inform people on how to keep the ocean clean and punish those who litter into the ocean.
I also lobster sometimes with my dad and I fish a lot too so I have some experience with the ocean. I never abuse fish after catching it unless I am keeping it then you have to put it out of its misery. Also I never rip the hook out of the fish's mouth like some people.
These are some of the many reasons why I should be the sub for your magnificent brother Poseidon and take over his exiting job for a year.
From your friend,
SEAN

Dear Zeus,
I would like to replace Hades when he goes on his vacation! The reason why I think you should let me replace Hades is because I'm not afraid of the dark. That is a good thing because it's underground so there's no sun light.
I would also make it so that the dead don't have to pay to ride the ferry across the river Styx. I would give Charon a break sometimes and make someone else take over like one of the dead people for a punishment. That would make it easier for the families. So if they were to forget to put a coin under the deads' tongue they wouldn't haunt them forever. But I will make sure they have some kind of
punishment because they are there for a reason.
I also like the underworld because you get to rule the whole place. I would like to rule the whole underworld because there's a lot to do down there like give people punishments and make new lighting Bolts made of Lightning Volt-Blue. They will be for you too so you don't have to carry around a small golden lighting Bolt. It would look like a zigzag lance of lighting, volt-blue, radiant with energy. I know you already have one but I will make you more. I will make the dead blacksmiths make some for you for a punishment so that takes care of one of my punishments. I will come and deliver them by hand. I don't go to Olympus a lot because there's a lot to do down here. For example keeping track of the dead and making sure there's a lot of punishments so they will know that they did something wrong.
That is the exact reason why I think you should let me take over for Hades!
Sincerely, Brittanie
